The December meeting of the Gan Angling Club will
be held in the Marine Bar on Wednesday, 9th December 1964 1t 1945
Hours. There was a disappointing attendance at the
November meeting; only three members turned up, so naturally I was
obliged to cancel the meeting. The new accounting period
commenced on 1st November, which necessitates the election or
re-election of committee members. I therefore urge all
present and potential members to attend, A
possibility exists that fishing facilities from the end of the
M.C.S. Jetty will be withdrawn if fishermen persist in leaving
their debris behind. The Officer i/c Marine Craft Section
and the Station Hygienist have rightly complained about the
remains of crabs, bread, pieces of dead fish and fish gut lying
about, not to mention the odd cigarette packet, papers, bottles,
cans and even the occasional service cutlery knife. (Mr. Dolly
take note). As well as being unsightly, this mess
constitutes a real hazard to the health of us all. The flies
are having a wonderful time. I personally find it difficult
to understand why a man, with the biggest garbage disposal known,
a yard away from him, elects to drop his rubbish at his foot.
I am aware that only a small percentage of individuals fishing
from the jetty are angling Club members, nevertheless many readers
of this will, I hope, feel their guilt and take steps to correct
their bad habits. It is hoped that the new sampans
will be delivered within the next few weeks, widening our scope
for deep water fishing, and large demands for heavier tackle are
anticipated. there are also a few Angling Club ties
available - Pure silk, Made in England, Maroon coloured with a
delightful tiny shark motif picked out in white with blue and
yellow trimming - 12/1 each.
Don't forget the
meeting chaps.
